Our Facilities
We have a purpose-built pelagic processing and export operation.
Our three main locations in Mount Maunganui are:
- 32-34 Portside Drive – processing, coldstore and offices.
- 7 Aerodrome Road – engineering and net shed.
- Port of Tauranga – berthing and unloading.
Our process
We have a fully integrated fishing operation where we own our fishing vessels, our factory and cold store.
This allows us to control the quality of the fish. We determine how the fish is caught and refrigerated onboard the vessel, how quickly it’s unloaded from the boat, how it’s processed and packaged in chilled conditions, and how rapidly it’s blast frozen.
The whole system is geared towards catching, processing, and freezing the fish as quickly as possible to maintain the best quality.
Our unloading facilities
The fish is unloaded at the Port of Tauranga, the largest Port in New Zealand.
Our Factory
From the unload, the fish is trucked to the factory where it is processed, whole round, into 20kg boxes. Skipjack tuna is packed into fadges or bags.
Our coldstore
From the factory, the boxed fish is taken to the coldstore where it is blast frozen between -18°C and -25°C. The fish is then either loaded into 20ft or 40ft containers for export, trucked off site for local sales, or stored in our coldstore for future use.
Our engineering team
We have two highly skilled marine engineers who maintain the vessels and make sure they meet all government and industry standards and regulations.
Our net shed
We have two net makers whose sole focus is to repair and make nets for our purse seiners.
